High viscosity carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC-HV)
CMC-HV is a linear polymer obtained from natural cellulose through alkalization, etherification, washing, drying, and grinding processes. It disperses easily in water to form a colloidal solution with excellent thickening properties. Mud containing CMC forms a thin but firm, low-permeability filter cake on the wellbore, reducing fluid loss and resisting saturation even in saline solutions. It can be widely applied in various water-based drilling fluid systems, exhibiting good suspending and stable emulsifying abilities, significant fluid loss reduction effects, and the formation of a smooth and tough filter cake.

1. Main function in drilling fluid
a. Viscosity-increasing effect: This network structure significantly increases the viscosity of the aqueous phase, thereby effectively enhancing the "apparent viscosity and dynamic shear force" of the drilling fluid.
b. Fluid loss reduction: Significantly reduce the "fluid loss" of drilling fluid, that is, decrease the amount of water and fine particles in the drilling fluid that penetrate into the formation.

2. Types of CMC

According to their viscosity grades and degrees of substitution, CMC for drilling fluids is generally classified into three types:
a. High-viscosity CMC: It mainly serves the function of "increasing viscosity", used to rapidly enhance the viscosity of drilling fluid, especially when preparing new slurry or when viscosity loss is severe.
b. Low-viscosity CMC: It mainly serves the function of "reducing fluid loss". While increasing viscosity, it focuses more on effectively controlling fluid loss and has a relatively small impact on the overall rheology of drilling fluid.
c. Medium Viscosity CMC: It combines the functions of increasing viscosity and reducing fluid loss, making it a balanced product.

3. Advantages
